D-SUB


D-sub connector, also called D-subminiature, is a common type of electrical connector. A family of plugs and sockets widely used in communications and on earlier PCs. They are named for their characteristic D-shaped metal shield. When they were introduced, D-subs were among the smallest connectors used on computer systems. The most common are DB25 and de9. The typical applications on personal computers are VGA (DA15 female), parallel port (DB25 female), com serial port (de9 male). There are dozens of different kinds of D-sub connectors and they can be categorized in a number of ways, including by connection method and the number of pins or jacks.
